MASS Success in Proactively Monitoring
MASS Communications is pleased to announce the full production release of its proactive network monitoring solution. MASS is proactively monitoring all customers’ data circuits to ensure maximum uptime. The solution is hosted in a data center with triple redundant power feeds, diesel generator, multiple and redundant GigE links, and BGP4 on all routers to ensure the solution is monitoring our customers’ networks 24x7x365. The MASS NOC investigates all signs of present or imminent outages and works with the carriers to ensure minimal to no down time.
While most carriers advertise monitoring, it is limited to their local network infrastructure. With the MASS solution, customer networks are monitored through the carrier network all the way to the customer premise equipment. This advanced monitoring protocol allows for the instantaneous capture of network issues that occur between the central office and the customer’s location.
David Schwed, CIO of MASS Communications, commented “The solution has already proven to be successful. We have had multiple cases where our NOC identified an unresponsive circuit during the night and were able to have a carrier technician dispatched to ensure the customer was up and running in the morning. With the traditional carrier approach, the issue would have been first identified when the customer arrived in the morning to discover and report the outage.”

MASS Communications Offers EOC to Expanded Markets
MASS Communications is pleased to announce its dedicated Ethernet Over Copper Service to the following expanded markets:
Baltimore, MD
Queens, NY
Brooklyn, NY
Bronx, NY
Long Island, NY (Nassau & Suffolk)
Manhattan (all parts)
North New Jersey
Philadelphia, PA
Washington DC
Why Ethernet over Copper:
Metro Ethernet Over Copper fills the gap between bonded T1 and fractional DS3. It is a unique alternative to competing fiber products. The EOC is designed to deliver a premium solution leveraging high-speed connectivity through the next generation backbone. The backbone consists of redundant, diverse transit connections along with fault tolerant switches and servers to minimize single points of failure. This will provide businesses with safe, secure, and reliable services.
How the Technology Works:
Premium Ethernet over copper solution is delivered via EFM, Ethernet in the First Mile, technology. EFM is provisioned via multiple twisted copper pair loops. Line modulation is implemented and 802.3ah Ethernet bonding is utilized to provide a single pipe delivering speeds of 5MB to 45MB. The delivery of multiple loops offers a distinct level of redundancy allowing continuity of services in the event any line failures occur. The service terminates at the customer’s premises into an Ethernet Access Device and service demarcation is defined at the LAN port of the customer’s equipment.
What are the Benefits:
Symmetrical speeds from 5 to 45Mbps can be provisioned. The amount of bandwidth we can offer is based on distance however most dense areas are likely to be serviced. Our loop qualification system allows us to advise in advance the maximum bandwidth to be delivered. We offer 5 – 45Mbps! EOC is delivered over an Ethernet handoff allowing connectivity to firewalls, managed switches, routers, or just a PC. Best of all, Services are delivered in 10-14 days rather than months and no construction or reengineering is needed.

been developed to specifically address their needs. “
MASS Communications truly understands the value they can bring to the partner community. The
holistic approach allows partners to function as true solution providers. Working together they will
look at areas of their customer’s infrastructure that have perhaps been ignored or under-served in
